Sur la face B de Shake  chanson  frénétique que reprendra a son compte un certain Otis Redding  il y une petite chanson qui va  devenir immortelle.
Bien plus qu’une chanson  ce titre va un hymne visionnaire a l’image du   ‘blowin in the wind de Bob Dylan ou du ‘Dancing in the street’  de Martha & the Vandellas
Cette chanson  éternelle s’appelle ‘A change is gonna come ’et elle va devenir LA chanson emblématique de la libération du peuple noir des ghettos .
Plus que toute autre chanson ‘A change is gonna come ‘ va synthétiser  la prise de conscience politique et sociale du peuple noir américain

C'est non seulement  un titre historique et clairement  politique mais également une chanson fabuleuse aux harmonies soignées et sur laquelle Sam Cooke pose sa voix unique et bouleversante. Le titre figure sur le 16e album du chanteur, Ain't that Good News.

La chanson sera reprise par les plus prestigieux des artistes noirs (Aaron Neville, Aretha Franklin , George benson , Otis redding ). Plus proche  de nous en 2008  Seal pour 'Soul '   son disque de reprises  la reprendra a son tour

Top 100 - 100/92-Hey Joe (Jimi hendrix 1967)

 

 

 

 

 

 

Hey Joe est une chanson composée par un quasi inconnu Billy Roberts en 1962 pour le groupe the Leaves mais cette chanson qui aurait pu rester inconnue de tous a croisée sur sa route un certain Jimi Hendrix qui la popularisée au point de se l'approprier totalement

C'est le premier enregistrement du Jimi Hendrix Experience. Le disque est autoproduit, et chose incroyable plusieurs compagnies le refusent jusqu'à ce que Polydor accepte finalement.

Le single sort en décembre 66 et coïncide avec les débuts du groupe dans la dernière d'une émission phare de la télévision anglaise "Ready Steady Go !". Le 5 janvier 1967, "Hey Joe" entre en 41ème position des charts anglais. Un mois plus tard il est numéro 6. C'est une version moins country à la radio, interprété par Tim Rose en 1965 qui inspira Jimi pour sa version devenue éternelle. Elle figure sur le premier album d'Hendrix 'are you exêrienced ' paru en 1967

Notre Johnny national y est allé de sa version (en français) puis c'est le regretté Alain Bashungqui en proposera une magnifique reprise (egalement en français) que l'on trouvera en bonus sur le ' live Tour 1985'

Ce titre trés populaire a aussi été enregistré par The Byrds , Deep Purple, Patti Smith ,Tina Turner  ou encore Willy De Ville pour n'en citer que quelques uns.

Top 100 - 100/93-Don't think twice it's alright (Bob Dylan -1963)

 

 

Extraite de 'the freewheelin Bob Dylan "don't think twice it's alright" date de 1963 et s'impose de toute évidence comme l'une des plus grandes chansons du répertoire de Bob Dylan

C'est une chanson que Dylan présenta comme « une affirmation selon laquelle on peut peut-être se dire à soi-même de mieux se sentir" Ce titre devenu emblématique fut l'un des premiers tubes commerciaux de Dylan , il y est clairement question de Suze Rotolo le premier grand amour de Bob (elle figure avec Bob bras dessous , bras dessous sur la pochette de " the freewhelin bob dylan" )

Ce second album de Dylan comporte des chansons historiques a l 'image de blowin ' in the wind " ' masters of war ' the girl from north country' ou ' a hard rain 's gonna fall' titres présents sur ce disque indispensable ou le talent et le génie musical et poétique de Bob Dylan (alors agé de 22 ans !!!) explose littéralement a la face du monde

Un mot enfin sur cette P..... de voix unique qui donne le frisson a chaque écoute ( et dieu sait si des écoutes il y a eu quelques unes)

Précisons enfin que ce titre sublime a été repris par une grande quantité d'artistes venus de tout horizons , citons parmi les plus belles reprises Waylon Jennings , Susanna & the Magical orchestra , Indigo girls , Mélanie Safka sans oublier ma favotite celle de John Martyn parue en 1967 sur son premier album 'London conversation'
