"Chain Of Fools" est inspirée d'une célebre chanson du répertoire  gospel  a l'origine le titre  "Pains Of Life", etait  interprété par   Elijah Fair & The Sensational Gladys Davis Trio

la relecture Signé Don Covay et chantée ( de quelle manière!) par l'immense Aretha Franklin  et a juste titre surnommée « The Queen of soul » ou encore « Lady Soul ». est un régal total

La voix ,l'énergie de la chanteuse  fait merveille et electrise ce titre que l'on trouvera sur un album mythique 'Lady Soul ' enregistré en 1968 chez Atlantic l'album  contient outre une reprise fabuleuse de  'people get ready ' de Curtis Mayfield mais aussi un autre titre légendaire d'aretha ' natural woman ' Joe Cocker ou encore Eva Cassidy ont magnifiquement repris cette chanson emblématique du répertoire 'soul'
