Extraite du second album de Cindy Lauper 'True colours ' est a mon avis l'une des plus belles chansons de la pétulante Cindy.Sorti sur l'album 'true colours 'en 1986 chez Epic records il fût cependant le seul 'single ' de cet album e décoller vraiment . 3 ans auparavant la  chanteuse avait frappée un grand coup avec 'she's so unusual' son premier album qui comprenait outre  trois  singles ' girl just wanna have fun , ' she bop ' et  'time after time'' qui rencontrèrent un énorme succès un peu  partout sur la planète et furent classés numero 1dans de nombreux pays .'C' est une chanson qui va s'imposer comme   un standard absolu du répertoire de Cindy Lauper ; elle  a été composée par bill Steinberg et tom Kelly  et  qui va  devenir l'une des chansons emblématiques des communautés 'gays ' et lesbiennes aux États -unis 

Née a New York en 1953 Cynthia Ann Stephanie Lauper Thornton Cindy Lauper fut une icône des années 80 qui sut largement profiter de l'explosion du vidéo-clip et de M.T.V pour promouvoir une carrière dont l'apogée se situe entre 1983 et 1989.La carrière de Cindy Lauper marquera nettement le pas au début des années 90 , une période ou elle se marie avec David Thornton rencontré sur le tournage du film 'off and running ' ou elle interprète un petit rôle. A partir de cette date elle va choisir de mettre sa carrière au second plan  ,elle va  toutefois participer au gigantesque projet 'the wall' in berlin (1990) un immense concert  organisé par roger Watersautour de la symbolique du mur de berlin et de l'album 'the Wall ' de Pink Floyd  , elle y  est invitée a  reprendre 'another brick in the wall' le titre majeur de ce celèbre disque.

Depuis  bientôt trois décennies , mis a part ' at last '(2003) un disque de reprises assez inégal ( Piaf - nina Simone - brel )  elle n'a plus enregistré  de disque qui merite d'etre signalé.

En 2004 l'ex génésis Phil Collins en proposera une version sans grand interet sur 'love songs a compilation of old and news"

Top 100 - 100/42 Surfin ' bird ( The Trashmen 1964)

 

 

 

Les drôles de zigotos qu'on peut voir sur la pochette de ce 45t s'apellent   The Trashmen ,le nom ne vous dira pas grand chose car ce groupe n'a jamais obtenu une grande notoriété ;ils sont issus de Minnéapolis et sont les précurseurs (avec une poignées d'autres dingues) du "surf rock "et du "rock -garage "

Leur notoriété est principalement due à Surfin'Bird (littéralement « l'oiseau qui surfe »), un 'single ' hallucinant  principalement basé sur les deux chansons Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow et The Bird's the Word d'une autre formation The Rivingtons.

Jubilatoire ,inclassable et totalement dingo 'surfin bird ' est une véritable tuerie,un pur moment de rock'n roll  qui me  laisse KO a chaque écoute . De nombreux artistes vont d'ailleurs reprendre  repris ce tube, notamment The Ramones, The Cramps, ou encore  The Beach Boys (excusez du peu ) heu ! vous avez dit  Culte ! vous avez bien raison
